Blackrock Angus was founded in 1969 by Don & Felicity MacLeay on the current location in Vasse Western Australia.
Their vision was to produce bulls backed by performance recorded data. To that end Blackrock was the first herd in the South West of Western Australia on the National Beef Recording Scheme. This vision for objective assessment continues today under Ken & Elizabeth who joined the business in 1992.
The Blackrock Angus stud has grown over 53 years of careful selection to occupy 1300 acres, 300 leased. This size allows us that all important close contact with the herd while giving us economies of scale to develop superior lines of cattle.
Blackrock Angus is run by Ken and Clemens with only occasional help from contractors. The annual pasture systems generate enough fodder to conserve hay and silage to fill the autumn feed gap. The temperate climate and duplex sandy loams excel as an environment for cattle breeding, something that started in Vasse in 1866 with the first settlers to the district.
